The Program
My Voice, My Video, My Solution™ is an interactive, multimedia program designed to assist young people on the Autism Spectrum and those with other disabilities to learn how to solve their own problems by targeting social, emotional, behavioral, self-care, vocational and transitional skills.
The concept is based on recommendations of professional care staff: social workers, psychologists case workers, teachers and counselors. It is the culmination of years of hands-on experience and scientific research, producing promising outcomes for young people with acute challenges.
Some of the issues targeted include, but are not limited to: anger management, time-management, hygiene, appropriate speech and language, making friends, appropriate behavior in social settings and in school, decision making, respecting personal boundaries, managing social media and internet properly, self-advocacy and acquiring appropriate workplace skills.
The program is built on a strength model, not a deficit—concentrating on exploring, identifying and maximizing the talents, interests, and successes of kids. Parents are parents in the process, assisting in the empowerment of their children. Through exercises, surveys, and activities, families identify their children’s challenges and create solutions using a variety of tools which include the young person’s own video production.
